Apple releases third public betas of tvOS 18.1 and HomePod Software 18.1

tvOS 18 introduces intelligent new features like InSight that level up cinematic experiences. Users can stream Palm Royale on the Apple TV app with a subscription.

Apple has released the third public betas of tvOS 18.1 and HomePod Software 18.1, allowing non-developers to test the software ahead of its official release later in October. These betas follow the release of the second betas a week earlier.

Public beta testers who have signed up for Apple’s public beta program can download tvOS 18.1 by opting into beta updates through the Settings app on their Apple TV. HomePod software can be downloaded through the Home app on their iPhone by tapping on the three dots in the upper right corner, choosing Home Settings, and then selecting Software Update.

While tvOS software releases are typically less extensive than other operating system updates, focusing on smaller improvements rather than major changes, the specific details of tvOS 18.1 remain unknown. Both the HomePod and HomePod mini’s software are based on tvOS 18.1, and information regarding their updates is also currently unavailable.
