The move is not just boosting unit sales; it is also changing how Apple generates revenue: by employing partners, not just products, to expedite updates and retain users within its ecosystem… Wamsi Mohan, an analyst at Bank of America, wrote a research note that didn’t make front-page news, but should have. Mohan gave Apple shares a “buy” recommendation again and cited U.S. carrier incentives as one of the key reasons for the iPhone 17 cycle’s rise… The research says that telecom companies like Verizon, T-Mobile, and AT&T are paying for the upgrade cycle in ways that go well beyond the customary bundling. With these deals, a lot of buyers may get an iPhone 17 for less than $250 up front, even the Pro Max variant. All you need to do is sign up for a particular unlimited data package and agree to pay for it over the course of 24 to 36 months. The company is exploring two smart glasses models: one without a display that pairs with an iPhone and another with a display to rival Meta’s Ray-Ban Display. These glasses will emphasize voice interaction, AI, and include features like speakers, cameras, and voice controls, available in multiple styles. Mark Gurman for Bloomberg News: ‎ The company had been preparing a cheaper, lighter variant of its headset — code-named N100 — for release in 2027. But Apple announced internally last week that it’s moving staff from that project to accelerate work on glasses, according to people with knowledge of the matter. Smart glasses have emerged as a critical arena for tech companies, which are racing to develop AI-centric devices. Future designs could eventually challenge smartphones as must-have technology, and Apple wants to be ready. The company is working on at least two types of smart glasses. The first one, dubbed N50, will pair with an iPhone and lack its own display. Apple aims to unveil this model as soon as next year, ahead of a release in 2027, said the people, who asked not to be identified discussing internal matters. Apple is also working on a version with a display — something that could challenge the just-released Meta Ray-Ban Display. The Apple version had been planned for 2028, but the company is now looking to accelerate development, the people said. Apple’s glasses will rely heavily on voice interaction and artificial intelligence — two areas where it hasn’t always excelled. It was slow to introduce the Apple Intelligence platform and had to delay upgrades to its Siri voice assistant. But the company is working to turn things around on that front. Apple is betting that a rebuilt Siri, planned for as early as March, will help power a new range of devices, including glasses, speakers, displays and cameras. Initially limited to SMS, MMS, picture messaging, and short audio clips, the network now provides connectivity for mobile dead zones and remote areas. Reuters: ‎ T-Satellite, powered by more than 650 Starlink direct-to-cell satellites, is also available for about a dozen apps such as Pixel Weather, Apple Music, Samsung Find, AccuWeather and AllTrails. “Part of what we’ve done here is worked with Apple and Google to create frameworks for SAT mode (satellite connectivity feature) so that any app can actually adopt the mode and get access to the data channel while connected to the satellite,” Jeff Giard, vice president, strategic partnerships and product innovation, told Reuters. For T-Satellite customers, the phone automatically switches to the satellite network the moment a terrestrial signal drops. When customers launch a satellite-ready app, it will provide critical services rather than full data-heavy experiences. The network is included at no extra charge with T-Mobile’s new “Experience Beyond” plan. For others, including AT&T and Verizon customers, the service can be added for $10 a month.
