Apple TV has confirmed that “The Morning Show” will end after a fifth season in 2027. The series, which premiered in 2019 as one of the flagship original shows for the streaming service, stars and is executive produced by Jennifer Aniston and Reese Witherspoon. The series is produced by Media Res and executive produced by Echo Films and Hello Sunshine. Charlotte Stoudt serves as showrunner and executive producer, while Mimi Leder directs and executive produces. Michael Ellenberg executive produces for Media Res, with additional executive producers including Lauren Neustadter for Hello Sunshine and Kristin Hahn for Echo Films. Season three earned 16 Emmy nominations, with Billy Crudup winning his second Emmy for Outstanding Supporting Actor in a Drama Series. Steve Carell’s Mitch Kessler was the glue that held our eyeballs. Without him, buh-bye. However, despite losing us, seasons 3 and 4 both performed well enough for renewals. The show has remained culturally visible and continues to generate headlines. There have been no leaks or reports about catastrophic drops in viewership that typically precede abrupt cancellations. So, this reads as a mutual, planned ending rather than a forced cancellation due to bad numbers.
