Apple’s global 50th anniversary celebrations are building toward a potentially historic finale — with strong indications that a legendary British Invasion performer will take the stage at Apple Park this week. According to Bloomberg News‘ Mark Gurman, the private grand finale at Apple Park in Cupertino, California will feature a British Invasion icon, sparking widespread speculation that Paul McCartney could be set to perform for the milestone event.
The event is likely scheduled for Tuesday, March 31st. A telling clue has surfaced: the Apple Park Visitor Center website now lists the store’s hours for that day as 10 a.m. to 3 p.m. PT — closing a full four hours earlier than its normal 7 p.m. schedule. ![]() Okay, maybe not, but how about both Paul and Ringo? Steve Jobs, whose deep love for The Beatles was well-known and often reflected in Apple’s music-centric products and events, couldn’t hide his excitement when the Fab Four finally made their long-awaited debut on the iTunes Store. In November 2010, after years of negotiations and what Jobs himself described as “a long and winding road,” The Beatles’ entire catalog arrived on iTunes. Jobs, then Apple’s CEO, personally issued a statement that captured his genuine enthusiasm: “We love the Beatles and are honored and thrilled to welcome them to iTunes. It has been a long and winding road to get here. Thanks to the Beatles and EMI, we are now realizing a dream we’ve had since we launched iTunes ten years ago.” For Jobs, a man who frequently played Beatles tracks before major product launches and who had famously settled the long-running trademark dispute with Apple Corps years earlier, bringing the band’s music to Apple’s platform was more than just a business milestone. It was a personal triumph and a fulfillment of a decade-long vision for digital music distribution. The arrival of The Beatles on iTunes marked one of the final major holdouts joining the service, cementing iTunes as the world’s leading digital music platform at the time. Fast-forward to today, and that same passion Steve Jobs had for The Beatles may soon be echoing through Apple Park, providing a fitting, unforgettable finale at Apple Park this week. Steve, one can only imagine, would have been ecstatic. Paul McCartney and Ringo Starr have rarely performed together live on stage since The Beatles’ breakup in 1970. Major Joint Performances (Post-Beatles) • 1976 — Ringo made a brief unannounced appearance with Paul McCartney and Wings at the Los Angeles Forum during the final song of the concert. • 2002 — They performed together at the Concert for George (tribute to George Harrison) at the Royal Albert Hall in London. • 2009 — Radio City Music Hall in New York City during the “Change Begins Within” benefit concert, organized in support of the David Lynch Foundation. The two performed “With a Little Help From My Friends” together. • 2010 — Paul made a surprise appearance at Ringo Starr’s 70th birthday concert with his All Starr Band at Radio City Music Hall in New York City. • 2014 — They performed together at the Grammy tribute concert honoring The Beatles’ 50th anniversary of arriving in America. • 2015 — At Ringo Starr’s induction into the Rock & Roll Hall of Fame, Paul joined him. They performed “With a Little Help From My Friends” and “I Wanna Be Your Man” with an all-star lineup. • 2019 — Paul invited Ringo as a surprise guest during the final show of his Freshen Up tour at Dodger Stadium in Los Angeles. They performed Beatles classics together. • 2024 — Ringo joined Paul on stage at The O2 Arena in London during the final night of McCartney’s Got Back tour. They performed “Sgt. Pepper’s Lonely Hearts Club Band (Reprise)” and “Helter Skelter.” Support MacDailyNews at no extra cost to you by using this link to shop at Amazon.
