Apple announced the increased purchases from TSMC Arizona on February 24, coinciding with its reveal that it will double the size of its Houston manufacturing campus — enabling U.S. production of the Mac mini desktop computer for the first time. Corina Vanek for Arizona Republic: ‎ 100 million chips is a drop in the bucket for Apple’s needs. The iPhone maker announced in August 2025 that U.S. manufacturers, including TSMC, were on track to produce 19 billion chips for Apple products in 2025. Apple bought “tens of millions” of chips from TSMC Arizona last year, the company said. Apple will also be Amkor’s first and largest customer when it opens in Peoria. Apple is an investor in Amkor’s $7 billion plant, which was part of Apple’s overall $600 billion commitment to investing in the United States over the next four years, according to an Apple announcement in 2025. Amkor will package and test Apple components created at the TSMC Arizona factory.
