Apple releases new firmware for iPhone Air MagSafe Battery

The new iPhone Air MagSafe Battery has a thin and light design that magnetically attaches to the back of iPhone Air to extend battery life during busier days.

Apple has released a new firmware update for the iPhone Air MagSafe Battery, the slim, magnetically-attaching power accessory designed exclusively for the ultra-thin iPhone Air lineup.

The update brings the firmware to version 101.0 (build 8B32), an incremental jump from the previous version 99.0 (build 8B25).

As with prior accessory updates, Apple has not released detailed release notes, leaving the specific improvements under wraps.

These silent refreshes typically include under-the-hood optimizations such as better power management, enhanced charging stability, improved magnetic alignment detection, or minor bug fixes to ensure seamless performance.

The iPhone Air MagSafe Battery remains a standout companion for users who value the iPhone Air’s sleek, lightweight design while still needing extra juice on busy days. Open Settings > General > About.
Scroll down and tap iPhone Air MagSafe Battery to view the firmware details.

If you’re still seeing version 99.0 or earlier, keep the battery attached and charging for a while — updates often roll out over hours or days. For those wanting to force the process, some users report success by connecting the battery directly to a Mac via USB-C.
