Apple Original Films is set to develop a gripping feature adaptation of Freida McFadden’s 2024 psychological thriller bestseller “The Teacher,” with acclaimed screenwriters Spenser Cohen and Anna Halberg (Tarot, Moonfall) pitching and scripting the project in a heated competitive bidding war. The story centers on high school math teacher Eve, who grows suspicious of her manipulative student Addie — haunted by a prior teacher scandal — while Eve’s husband Nate, a fellow educator, unexpectedly bonds with the enigmatic teen, unleashing a web of revenge, buried secrets, and shocking twists. Produced by Brian Kavanaugh-Jones via Range Media Partners, with Cohen, Halberg, and McFadden executive producing, the film marks another high-profile adaptation for the pseudonymous physician-turned-author, following Lionsgate’s upcoming “The Housemaid” starring Sydney Sweeney and Amanda Seyfried.
