Apple is gearing up to broaden its production footprint in Vietnam, driven by ambitions in the smart home sector and a strategy to diversify away from heavy reliance on China. Among the innovations in the works are fresh smart home gadgets like indoor security cameras and a smart display for managing household appliances, all set to be assembled in Vietnam in partnership with Chinese firm BYD Co. On top of that, Apple aims to ramp up iPad production there alongside BYD, while developing a compact tabletop robot featuring a robotic arm, with a planned debut in 2027.
