Apple released new firmware for AirPods Pro 2 and AirPods 4 today, adding support for features in iOS 26, iPadOS 26, and macOS Tahoe. The firmware, build 8A356, replaces the previous 7E93 version. With the latest software updates, AirPods Pro 2 and AirPods 4 offer improved audio quality for phone and video calls, plus studio-quality recording for interviews, podcasts, and videos. New features include using AirPods as a camera remote in the Camera app to take photos or start videos, pausing audio if you fall asleep, a Keep Audio in Headphones option to prevent switching to car audio, and low-battery charging reminders. AirPods 4 with ANC and AirPods Pro 2 also support Live Translation. These features will also be available on the upcoming AirPods Pro 3, launching September 19th. MacDailyNews Note: To update, ensure your AirPods are near your iPhone, iPad, or Mac, place them in the Charging Case, connect the case to power, close it, and wait at least 30 minutes for the firmware to install.
