Speaking to reporters on Friday, Cheng highlighted land and labor costs as key factors, with electricity costs being the most critical for AI server production. For Apple assembly, Pegatron focuses on entry-level and budget models like the iPhone 12, iPhone 13, and iPhone 14. The company has also been involved in producing MacBooks and iPads. Reuters: ‎ “Like many of our peers and competitors, the areas we’re considering are likely to be similar,” he said in response to a query about potential locations, speaking on the sidelines of an annual shareholders’ meeting. Taiwan manufacturers Foxconn, Inventec, and Wistron have recently announced expansion plans in the U.S. state of Texas. Pegatron has been diversifying manufacturing sites away from China since U.S. President Donald Trump’s first term, expanding into Southeast Asia and Mexico.
