Starting today, Wednesday, May 28, 2025, Satellite Messages and the Find Satellite app are available to users in Mexico who have an iPhone 14 or later with iOS 18.4 or later installed. In situations where there is no Wi-Fi or cellular connection, Satellite Messages helps people stay in touch with friends and family, and the Find via Satellite app allows them to share their location. Satellite Messages automatically displays a notification inviting users to connect to the nearest satellite from the Lock screen or in the Messages app. Once the connection is established, users can send and receive text messages, emojis, and Tapbacks by iMessage and SMS. In addition, if you want your loved ones to know where they are when they are not connected, they can now open the Find My app and share their location via satellite. For those who have an iPhone 14 Pro or later, the Dynamic Island shows the intensity of the satellite connection and tells them whether to turn left or right to improve it. Designed with privacy in mind, iMessages sent via satellite and locations shared via satellite in the Find app are end-to-end encrypted.
