President Donald Trump via Truth Social: ‎ I have long ago informed Tim Cook of Apple that I expect their iPhone’s that will be sold in the United States of America will be manufactured and built in the United States, not India, or anyplace else. If that is not the case, a Tariff of at least 25% must be paid by Apple to the U.S. Thank your [sic] for your attention to this matter! Additionally, President Trump recommended 50% tariffs on European Union imports from June 1st. ‎ MacDailyNews Take: These are negotiation parries. Clearly, Trump wants more from Apple and the EU than they are giving today. Both tariff announcements are likely stated today so that the markets can have the three-day U.S. trading break to digest.
