TikTok is back on Apple and Google’s U.S. app stores after President Donald Trump delayed enforcing a ban on the app. The popular social media platform, owned by China’s ByteDance, was removed from the stores on January 18 to comply with a law requiring ByteDance to sell the app or face a U.S. ban. TikTok, with over 170 million American users, briefly paused its U.S. services for a day before resuming after Trump assured he would delay the ban. On his first day in office, Trump signed an executive order pushing the ban’s enforcement to April 5. TikTok has faced ongoing challenges in the U.S., with the government citing national security risks due to its Chinese ownership and access to American user data. TikTok CEO Shou Chew attended the inauguration of President Trump who has floated the idea of TikTok being co-owned, with 50% American ownership. Potential buyers include real estate tycoon Frank McCourt, Shark Tank’s Kevin O’Leary, and YouTuber Jimmy Donaldson, known as MrBeast. MacDailyNews Take: Time-wasters of America, rejoice!
