However, it also raises questions about the company’s ability to maintain its momentum in developing innovative AI products, especially as key figures continue to depart. Adam Clark for Barron’s: ‎ ChatGPT-developer OpenAI is currently structured as a nonprofit company with a board that oversees its for-profit business. It now intends to become a for-profit public-benefit corporation, The Wall Street Journal reported, citing people with knowledge of its plans. At the same time OpenAI has lost another significant leader in Chief Technology Officer Mira Murati, who abruptly resigned on Wednesday. Murati is the latest in a flood of departures since CEO Sam Altman was briefly ousted by the company’s former board last year, before returning after an employee revolt. OpenAI’s co-founder and former chief scientist Ilya Sutskever, co-founder and former top researcher John Schulman, and former top researcher Jan Leike have all resigned since May.
