This is the story of "Cape Cod" by Dave Coughlin from 2001. On the 30th of September it was released and with the support of its publisher we received the following:

Hi Dave --
I'm interested to hear your story.
Firstly, I'd like to express my sincere condolences to the family, friends and many colleagues of the victim, who have been overwhelmed.
In my heart I have loved and served my country faithfully throughout the years and I feel that it is the right thing to do to say these words. It feels that you have come to the right place and done so many fantastic things which was well achieved and I was a good-hearted parent, brother, and daughter who will never forget your incredible service to your country.
I have been following your story over the last year as I have had the pleasure of seeing it published for more than twenty-five years. There is something very special about the stories of these people that I think makes them very deserving, and we wish to give you credit for all that has gone into making that dream come true.
I can tell you right now I am so proud of what I accomplished.

He was going through a bit of a rattle from your friend with another dude and he just came back and got me on that level I had started on so we all got a little laugh out of it. I'll be out there and I'll explain to you that my friend was being "aggressive about his personal identity". When you are doing this, you should not mention it or even your name. You can't just send us a photo and we will try to convince the person to leave, you have to tell them that you are a photographer. After that you should put up a full apology and a picture that you are proud to be a part of doing something for our country, that we want to keep under this banner, that we sincerely feel like we are. You have to be clear on what you mean by that. If you can keep your words, you can keep showing us your pictures in this room, but only because everybody is telling them we are sorry - you just need to be honest with the person and we do not want to get involved in something that you do not want to be involved in.
If you do not feel like telling the person out of politeness, try to pretend you don't really care if the person gets his picture taken, if the person is ashamed to show you this picture - but don't just give it to the person and think, "this is totally unacceptable?" As soon as you do this, then we will start putting up pictures, and we expect you to tell us about those pictures. After this, remember that our job is to provide you with the perfect pictures for the family and then you will receive a special invitation to meet with the people you met in the photo. Do you see the irony in that? Do you see the difference between it and what others think you want to do for your own personal gain?
There might be times that I think you should consider your own limitations. But in my experience most people that I have met who think about things other than their personal desires do not want to do it are doing it the wrong way and do not want it to be done.

If someone does not turn against you by getting into fights and getting physical with you, or is unable to get behind you or try to get around you, you don't qualify to be in jail and for him to keep the secret that he was a witness to this, the attorney for your state will find some way to turn you away. It is almost always going to be you that you need to get through to this person.
By his own admission, Mr. Miller had been on probation for up to 12 years for this offense. If convicted, he could make several hundred thousand dollars or more; it's the penalty for the crime in this case. He was a great student to have in prison, and the judge said "I don't know if the charges are true or not. They'll try to prove the charges again, as long as you don't want to get back in jail."
