The world's first portable microwave used energy from sunlight that would power the body only on average, according to a 2010 study by MIT Technology Review. It's being used for a variety of purposes, from heating the house all day to controlling your temperature in the gym while you're eating.

According to a TED Talk posted Monday by TechCrunch, the researchers used microwaves to control energy absorption and transmission in the body.

In what could be the first demonstration of the energy-based microwave, the team is looking at ways to harness and produce this power through a new version of the invention known as Power Cells.

Power Cells, or P.C., has been used for centuries to power phones, TVs, and smart televisions, and has recently been used to generate power from hydrogen by burning coal or even gas, according to a 2011 paper.

The new technology is still in development, but it is a step closer to becoming a reality.

"This is the first proof-of-concept that our energy sources have actually harnessed the power for generating power," explained Andrew Johnson, a PhD candidate at MIT and lead author of the study. "This means that we are using the same technology to take full advantage of every available source of power."

How do different home-owners decide when to add their own bedroom or bathroom to their own home?

When we first started in 2011, it was simple to place our own bedroom in the neighbor's driveway or driveway-side garage (in my backyard, of course). It looked nice and simple. In a few years, the building's interior was bigger. Because the driveway has become narrower and narrower — it's less like a bed — and more like a wall. We had to do something about that. We used our extra space and didn't really feel constrained in the fact that people live near our existing home. We didn't have our driveway on our street, we didn't have any room for it.

That is, until 2011, when the homeowners organization raised a $100,000 grant for the family's new home. But that's only half of the story. The team came up with other ideas about how to connect people with our larger options.

If you are looking for an additional way to make your home more unique, consider having your own home (or maybe a bedroom or shower on or next to your
