According to a survey by Piper Sandler, 22% of American teenagers intend to upgrade to an iPhone 16 model this fall/winter. This marks an increase from the 20% who planned to upgrade this spring and is flattish the 23% and 24% who planned to upgrade in the previous two years, respectively.

[A]bout one in six surveyed teens did not even know about Apple Intelligence…
[T]he analysts added… “The average iPhone among teens is about three generations behind the iPhone 16, meaning these older models could just be due for an upgrade.”
Apple Intelligence was unveiled at the tech giant’s Worldwide Developers Conference in June, and Wall Street has since been busily trying to determine what that offering will do for demand. The iPhone 16 was launched last month.

MacDailyNews Take: Wedbush analyst Daniel Ives believes the iPhone 16 will be Apple’s “most successful iPhone unit launch in its history” thanks to its Apple Intelligence features.

Ives estimates that roughly 300 million iPhones in use today around the world have not been upgraded in over 4 years.

Ives in September bumped the firm’s Apple price target to $300 from $285 and said that the iPhone 16 lineup will help catapult the company to a $4 trillion valuation in 2025.
