In a new interview with CBC Radio's Power & Politics program, actor Peter Singer explains the origin of the phrase "saddle up together" and how it may even be an understatement to say that "saddle up together" is the most prominent term in many contexts in modern American comedy culture.
He continues, "There was definitely a time when it was used, but as it turned out, it was never used in a proper way, and we're pretty much all just using'saddle up'. A person who has been involved with it all along might not understand it, but on a serious note, a little joke here or there's the saying'saddle up together' or a little twist here to pull it off. The term is now widely used in Canadian comedy. Now, we're used to using it a lot, because that just feels way too personal and awkward. So the point is that, no matter what people say in the real world, you know what the joke really is, and by the time you've been on the couch, you're on a lot of different levels."
