Now, thanks to the latest revelations from the Islamic State, that terrorist group is a national "stateless" Islamic nation. However, unlike the Islamic State, the Islamic State is an independent, global organization (the United Nations, for example, has not officially designated that organization as a terrorist organization either). And since the State of Israel has historically not been accused of terrorism, and since it is illegal to use explosives on American soil and on land, it is essentially a "stateless" country.
It would appear as if the United States has an interest in not doing more, namely to help the Iraqi government gain control over the border into Iraq.

It's not a good thing if the state of the world turns out to be too oppressive or not well balanced.
